Michelle Van Der Meer

Studio Herbarium

Studio Herbarium is run by Australian interior designer Michelle van der Meer who has a Master’s degree in interior architectural design from the Inchbald School of Design in London.

The studio focuses on a range of projects from thoughtful renovations of historical properties to new-builds, as well as the design of bespoke furniture for these projects.

Michelle has worked on historical and modern homes in Sweden and Switzerland, and has a deep interest in creating spaces that are not only beautiful, but that are healing, based on peer-reviewed research. Her designs incorporate elements of biophilia that help people to feel calm through the integration of natural materials, plants, colours, sound and scent.

Michelle likes to work closely with clients to gain a deep understanding of how they use the space, and their needs in order to create designs that not only beautiful,  but also functional and calming.

Prior to studying interior architectural design, Michelle worked for the United Nations Refugee Agency and other international organisations in the area of refugee and immigration policy.

Michelle also has degree’s Archaeology and international relations and has lived in Australia, the UK, Sweden, Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
